My Birchbox Experience

Halloooo welcome to another beauty post. This one is going to be about my Birchbox experience.

This is actually going to be a little different than other people's Birchbox blog posts because I am not actually subscribed to the monthly boxes. I simply went on the site to look up makeup and find good deals. I have only made one purchase (shown below) so far, but needless to say, I am IMPRESSED.

I originally went to Birchbox to look for Jouer products because I've been dying to try them and they aren't sold at Sephora. What I found on Birchbox exceeded my expectations.

What I discovered was a Birchbox exclusive collaboration. Jouer and Beauty Blender came together to create the Jouer + beautyblender Perfectly Primed Collection

This collection includes
-one full sized Jouer Matte Moisture Tint
-a sample of the Jouer Anti-Aging Moisture Primer
-one full sized Beauty Blender
-a 0.56 oz Beauty Blender solid cleanser

That means that without the sample, this collection is worth:
  38.00 (Jouer Matte Moisture Tint)
+19.95 (Beauty Blender)
+  8.00  (approximate cost of .56 oz cleanser)
 65.95

It is priced on Birchbox at $49.

BARGAIN OR WHAT?!

On top of this, I found a promo code that took another 20% off at checkout. The promo code is TAKEOFF20. I'm not sure how long it will be valid, but it worked like a charm for me.

With a little more digging, I found a deal in the "Bonus Shop," which said a Spend $35, get a free Mystery Sample Pack. Alternatively, you can purchase this for $10 if you don't reach $35. That means this pack is worth $10, but I was getting it for free. Life couldn't be sweeter at this point. I ended up receiving the Obliphicia hair products shown the to right. I've never heard of this brand, but I'm excited to try out these samples!

ON TOP of all this, I got free shipping because I spent over $25. Like honestly, is this amazing service or what?

FINAL NUMBERS
Value of products:  $75.95 + shipping
What I paid:            $39.20
Savings:                  $36.75

Birchbox also has an amazing points system. Every dollar you spend is equivalent to the number of points you earn. (So for this purchase, I earned 39 points.) Your points are valid for one year, and when you reach 100 points, you get $10 to spend on anything on the site. That is freaking awesome! I think this is better than the Sephora points system, which only allows you to choose from a few select samples every 100 points. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have cash to spend on what I want.

In summary, I am very impressed by Birchbox. The only downside is that they don't carry all of the brands Sephora does (i.e. Nars, Lancome, etc.), but I will buy anything I can from Birchbox. The rest I will still buy from Sephora.

Phew that was a long post. I just really wanted to let my fellow bargain hunters know about my findings! I hope this convinces you to check out Birchbox, and happy shopping! :]
